At After Dark, our foundation has always been clear: we are a queer-affirming, sex-worker-rooted, body-positive space committed to care, liberation, and safety for all who walk through our doors.

Over the past several days, concerns have been raised within the Olympia queer community regarding actions taken by Jake’s on 4th. We hear our community. We believe our community. And we stand with you.

After thoughtful discussion and listening to those most impacted, we have made the decision to cancel Jake’s After Dark at this time. Continuing with this collaboration would not align with our values, nor with our responsibility to hold space where people feel protected, respected, and celebrated.

Our studio exists because of queer brilliance, sex workers’ resilience, and the magic of community care. We will always choose our people first — without exception.

We hope for accountability, transparency, and meaningful repair for those harmed. In the meantime, we will continue pouring into the spaces, bodies, and voices who deserve joy, safety, and belonging.

What an extraordinary weekend in Olympia. Our grand opening celebration — Noctourne Cabaret — alongside Olympia Arts Walk, was a dream realized in the most magical, electric way.

To every soul who joined us, cheered, performed, created, or simply stood in the crowd soaking in the energy — thank you. Your presence breathed life into this space and reminded us why we began this journey.

To the friends, family, artists, and community members who have been in our corner since the very beginning — through renovations, late-night planning sessions, rehearsals, and wild ideas — your support has meant everything. This space exists because of you.

A heartfelt thank you as well to the two incredible artists we hosted for Arts Walk — @aydaintheoffing and @pamenamel your talent and creativity added so much depth and beauty to our opening weekend. You helped us weave together art, movement, and spirit in the most captivating way.

From day one, our shared vision between @afterdarkpole, @ethereabeautysanctuary, and @artes.tenebris has been to create something more than a collection of businesses — to build a haven for art, wellness, and connection. A place where the boundaries between body, beauty, and healing blur into something luminous.

We’re endlessly grateful for the love this community has shown us, and we can’t wait to keep growing with you — through more performances, workshops, collaborations, and gatherings that celebrate art in all its forms.
